While several beloved live music venues have shut down recently, music lovers can rejoice — there’s a new venue in town. The Needle Vinyl Tavern is taking over a space overflowing with local music history — it’s located within the historic Alberta Block Building, in the space that was home to the CKUA radio station for over 50 years.

There will be live music seven nights a week, along with DJs spinning vinyl on Fridays and Saturdays from midnight to closing. The narrow space practically coaxes you to walk further in, and the soft glow of the strings of lights across the space and the exposed brick wall serve as the perfect backdrop for a night of live music and swapping stories with friends. Plus, what better spot to watch a talented band than the second floor mezzanine?

The Needle has a full food and drink menu to enjoy while you take in the live entertainment. For drinks, you’ll find classic cocktails like caesars and martinis, as well as a selection of brews. There is also a section on the cocktail menu, Now Auditioning, where guests can try some of the new spot’s own cocktails such as the barracuda, a drink comprised of Bullit bourbon and The Needle’s own peach iced tea. As for the food menu, expect comfort food classics like fried chicken, fish and chips, burgers and pizza.
